To Qualify, The Foods Must Meet certain Conditions:
Must not be a species forbidden for consumption, such as pork.
The major veins and arteries in the throat must be severed completely and quickly. This ensures that blood flow to the brain falls dramatically and the animal stops feeling pain, and that the animal can drain blood completely keeping the meat cleaner.
The name of Allah must be taken at the time of slaughter to bless the animal, by a Muslim or People of the Book
The animal must be treated well.
